About the Development Code
The Development Code is the set of regulations that guide how development should occur in Clark County. This includes zoning and subdivision standards, among others. Adopted in 2000, the current Development Code has been amended numerous times over the past 20 years, and as a result of numerous piecemeal updates, the Development Code is challenging to use and administer. With the recent adoption of the Master Plan, the Code is also no longer aligned to accomplish the vision and goals of that Plan.

The goal of the Development Code rewrite is to re-align the Code and the Plan. The rewrite offers the opportunity to organize Code standards and regulations so that citizens, developers, and county staff and decision-makers know what is expected of any development proposal. Completing this rewrite in conjunction with the Master Plan rewrite will help ensure that —moving forward— the County’s policies and regulations will work hand in hand.
